Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and your choices.

This Policy explains how Ganges handles personal information when you use haat. We try to collect as little as we reasonably can, and to be plain about what we do with it.

What we collect

Account details. Name, email, password (hashed), phone, country.
Order details. Shipping address, items purchased, payment method fingerprint (we never store your full card number).
Seller verification. For sellers only — PAN, Aadhaar reference, GST/IEC numbers, bank account. Sensitive identifiers are stored encrypted.
Usage data. Pages viewed, search queries, device + browser, IP-derived country. We use this to make the marketplace work and to find bugs.

How we use it

To run your account and fulfil your orders.
To verify seller identity and comply with Indian export regulations.
To recommend products you might like (signed-in users only; you can turn this off).
To send transactional emails. Marketing emails are opt-in.
To detect and prevent fraud.

Who we share with

We share data only with parties that help us deliver the service — payment processors, shipping carriers, identity verifiers, our hosting and email providers, our analytics tools. We do not sell your information.

Where data lives

Our database and authenticated sessions are hosted in Mumbai, India. Some service providers process data in the European Union or the United States; in those cases, contractual safeguards apply.

How long we keep it

Account data — for the life of your account, plus 90 days after deletion.
Order records — 7 years (Indian tax law).
KYC records — 5 years from last activity (FEMA / RBI guidance).
Analytics — aggregated and anonymised after 13 months.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

Show you the data we hold about you.
Correct anything that's wrong.
Delete your account (some records must be retained for tax/legal reasons).
Stop sending you marketing email.
