Seller Agreement
The terms that govern selling on haat.
This Seller Agreement is between you (the seller) and Ganges (a sole proprietorship, India) (referred to as "we", "us", or "Ganges"). By completing seller onboarding, listing a product, or accepting an order, you agree to these terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and based in India to list products on haat. You must hold a valid PAN and the bank account details you supply must belong to you or your registered business. Verification of GST and IEC details is optional at onboarding but unlocks the verified and trade tiers.
What you can sell
Only goods made in India by hand or by a registered Indian manufacturer. You may not list goods that infringe third-party trademarks, goods on the restricted-goods list (antiques, ivory, wildlife products, weapons, narcotics, controlled substances), or goods that misrepresent their material, origin, or maker.
Listing standards
Every listing must include accurate photos of the product you will ship, an honest description, your HS code, and accurate dimensions and weight. You may use haat's AI Listing Creator, but the final listing is your responsibility — you are the publisher.
Pricing and commission
You set your INR base price. haat adds shipping, duties, and tax at the buyer's destination so the buyer sees a single landed price. We deduct a tier-dependent commission on each completed order; current rates are documented in your seller dashboard and may be revised on 30 days' notice.
Payouts
We settle in INR to the bank account on file. Payout schedules depend on your tier (currently T+10 for new, T+7 for verified, T+3 for trade). All payouts route through our regulated payment partner; we do not hold seller funds.
Fulfillment
You must mark each order packed within 48 hours of payment and hand it to the assigned carrier within 24 hours of label generation. Repeated delays may result in tier demotion. Logistics are provided through our carrier network at the rates the buyer paid at checkout.
Refunds and disputes
We protect buyers under a tiered returns policy. You may contest a buyer-initiated refund within 48 hours; contested cases are reviewed by our trust and safety team. We may issue a full or partial refund out of escrow at our discretion when evidence supports the buyer.
Compliance
You are responsible for compliance with Indian export law, including IEC requirements, FEMA, customs, and (where applicable) GST. We deduct GST TCS at the rate prescribed by law on every order. We may provide compliance guidance but we are not your tax or legal adviser.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your seller account for breach of these terms, for repeated late fulfillment, for unresolved buyer complaints, or where required by law. You may close your seller account at any time; any unresolved orders and contested refunds must conclude before final account closure.
Liability
haat acts as a marketplace, not as the seller of record. You are the seller for the purposes of consumer protection, product safety, and tax. Our aggregate liability to you in any 12-month period is capped at the commissions you paid us during that period.
Changes to this agreement
We may update this agreement; we will notify you by email and in the seller dashboard at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued listing after the effective date is your acceptance of the updated terms.
